The Dance Dance Revolution Series started and is still going in Japan. The phenomenon has since spread worldwide, with various major countries receiving their own versions, including the release of Dancing Stage in Europe, Dance Dance Revolution USA in the United States, as well as a string of Korean versions.
Players control the game with their feet, stepping on four arrowed foot pressure pads representing up, down, left and right. Prior to the game, players choose their preffered difficulty level, mode and music to suit their dancing style. Watching the direction of the arrows on the screen, players must mimic the direction of these with their feet on the foot pads. This must be done as each arrow reaches a highlighted bar at the top of the screen. When a player misses, their life gauge will be decreased and should the gauge become completely diminished, it's game over!
